Default Colonizer/Mine bug

Is there any intention to fix the bug in Space Empires (not gold) where you can run a colonizer into a planet with any number of mines and ALL of the mines are destroyed and your colonizer lives? So essentially, the colonizer is the most powerful mine sweeper in the game and 1 colonizer can take out 200+ level 3 mines?

We have a player who is rushing planets with colonizers, then following it in the following turn with a planet capture ship and pretty much walking through the entire game this way.

Heard of this before?

That is fixed in the latest Gold Version. There will be no more fixes for the pre-Gold Version.

EDIT: What you could do if Gold isn't an option is make a mod and lower the structure of the colony component. Or just not play with the guy since he's a weenie.

You need bigger warheads. IIRC level 2 or level 3 warheads will kill the colony component.

This only applies to non-gold and early patches of gold:
Only level 1 warheads get wasted against the colony module because they do 100 damage, and it has 200. So, each warhead can not kill the colony module, so it does no damage overall (after all of the other comps on the ship have been blown to bits, of course). Level 2 and 3 warheads do 200 and 300 damage, and so are able to destroy colony modules.
