OT: browser\'s, ISP\'s and conflicting information.
anyway, a friend of mine's got a 133MHz with 64MEGs of memory. according to her ISP for her internet connection, she has enough memory to use the internet. internet explorer disagree's. anyone know of any freeware browser's that only need 64megs or less?

Don't know exactly but you could try Mozilla from www.mozilla.org.

WTH are you talking about. Just put IE 5.5 on it and set her up.

I'd go with Firebird over Mozilla... it can be found on the same domain.

in case you didn't notice, it's IE that's complaining of memory problems.

I have to second this suggestion, Firebird is definitively an efficient broswer, and a bit faster than Mozilla.
Narf, you may try to find an older Version of IE. A few years ago, 64 mo were a luxury, so IE had to run with such computers. The Version coming with Win 98 is supposed to run at least. (It used to on my old computer with 32 mo) I believe it was IE 4 or so, as I didn't have Win 98 SE. I don't know how well Mozilla (or any other broswer) would perform under such conditions.

Re: OT: browser\'s, ISP\'s and conflicting information.
I hate to say, Mozilla is a good browser, but a resource hugger. Firebird could do, old Versions of IE or -better- Netscape should certainly do. My wife is running Netscape 4.75 on 128MB and there are lots of resources left. 133MHz means every browser start will be a test of patience though .

Re: OT: browser\'s, ISP\'s and conflicting information.
its complaining about 64 not being enough????
heh, I saw a laptop a copple of months ago which was brought with 64mb and running 2000 ikkk!
but anyway, you could probibly pick up another 64mb chip farly cheaply...
but yea failing that an older Version of IE or netscape would sufice.

Re: OT: browser\'s, ISP\'s and conflicting information.
what about opera? It only takes up ~10meg on disk, so it can't take up too mcuh memory can it?
And as for 64meg "not being enough"... Hah! Back in the day I used to browse the web on my 2meg amiga 1200.
Well, actually, I didn't, but, you know, I could have done, if I'd just had a modem when I was an impoverished student...
