Re: PING: Ruatha
It could be worse Vezzra, you could have to face up a United Federation encompassing all western Empires for example. Wouldn't that be nice? Ruatha, do you want to be my partner?
Of course, what worries me is the fact that Ruatha is not involved in a war. Yet. Thus he is free to launch an offensive against any of his neighbours in this sector. Hopefully, I am at a somewhat safe distance, but... Loser? Would you mind to deal with Ruatha once you are done with the Nyxians?

Re: PING: Ruatha
The Kilrah are my neighbor, the Nix are my neighbor, the Rorg are my neighbor. Some AI in the north, who was a close ally, is my neighbor.
Believe me when I tell you I appreciate the scale of your empire. I do not hold it against you that you are small. I do take those cautious steps I feel are appropriate to my situation.

From the sounds of things I may have to deal with the Kilrah once Rags and I are done with the Nix.
Still, I am the turtle. I will build and build and build and am not so likely to start a fight. It is fortunate, for me and perhaps all other players, that Nix opted to attack so soon after he had rushed-up the Talisman. At this point his battle technology remains primitive compared to my own and I do have some chance. Contrast this with my situation in Adamant009, where I have been making life interesting for the Religious Gravey for fifty turns or more but have only succeeded in delaying the inevitable.
I would like to note that, if your empire is large enough, it is still possible to make enough money to support large fleets under full or near-full riot conditions. It is just not possible to do so forever.

I admire your optimism when dealing with an enemy whose production is nearly double of your resource and quadruple of your research production. Be thankful that Rags is helping you... and if you plan to attack my little empire afterwards, remember that he will be too far away to help...

Be thankful that Rags is helping you... and if you plan to attack my little empire afterwards, remember that he will be too far away to help... I'm not really an optimist, I'm closer to a borderline delusional paranoid. I just don't share all the secrets I see in every nuance and seemingly inconsequential circumstance. Perhaps I'm a selfish paranoid... But I've found that a cavalier, foolhardy, nonchalant attitude frees one from the paralyzing effects of Absolute Knowledge. j/k
Really, though, you don't see the things I see. <<>nervous cackle<>>
As for the Kilrah, your promises of assistance and honorable airs combine with your current aloof attitude toward the problem, continued trade relationship with Nix, and attacks on minor neighbors all lead me to believe that you will not participate in this war, but will hold yourself ready for... rash decisions afterward. The ZAX will remain largely reactive. Wrath-of-God style reactive if I've my druthers.
