Has the Sector Limit Been Increased?
I was wondering if the bug that prevents having systems in excess of 255 has been fixed or not?

Re: Has the Sector Limit Been Increased?
I think this is the one that says it was fixed:
Version 1.21:
1. Fixed - Range check error when you have 255 systems and you give
a ship orders to move to another system.
I think 255 is the maximum. I think the bug was when it was exactly 255. Not when it was in excess of 255.

Re: Has the Sector Limit Been Increased?
So we can not have more than 255 systems per game? Hum, I hope in time, that number gets increased to 350 or so.

I hope someone flames me for this and tells me that my SE4 installation is hopelessly screwed up. But let me make a completely outrageous statement anyways in the great hope that I am wrong.
"Actually, you cannot have more than 100 systems. It appears that the method used to fix this bug was to guarantee that the number of systems is never more than 100."
(Ducks and waits for folks to start throwing stuff.)
Please, please, please. Someone else count the number of systems they are generating and tell me that my se4 installation must somehow be hosed.
Thanks!
Add->Grid galaxies are easier to count. I haven't found that they contain significantly less or more than other galaxy types.

Re: Has the Sector Limit Been Increased?
No flame, but I am currently playing a game with 254 systems. I just wanted to kown if I could punch that number up and not worry about RCE's.

Save the map and post it. I'll count the star systems.
It isn't enough to change the settings file because the game chooses a random number of stars.
Thanks for not flaming.

Re: Has the Sector Limit Been Increased?
Thanks. 212 systems and not a black hole in any of them. I guess you are using some custom files to get rid of the black holes? I wonder if that helps explain why I'm not getting more than 100 systems?
I re-installed the game, and that took care of the problem. Not surprising considering how many different things I've tweaked in the data files testing stuff out. Thanks!

man, is there anyone out there who has not hands-down won the game and surpassed every AI by the time they colonize the first hundred systems? does anyone play multiplayer with over 200 systems and less than 20 people, or worse than a 10:1 ratio? I think even 200 is excessive, even with max AI I have a long time to expand before I run into anyone, and by the time I do, they are overpowered. the only arguement I can really see for that many systems (besides the obligitory "i had to try it, cause its cool") is if someone wanted to do the 'neutral challenge' on a huge map to let the AI (hopefully) build up massive empires over 500-1000 turns.
