Question on meeting in nebulas...
Is it possible to meet someone in a nebula by means of the warp point? Obviously just flying into the system you cannot meet someone, but what if you 'collide' with another race at a warp point between two nebula systems, would you see each other and combat take place or would you just fly past one another and nothing happen? I could'vetested this at home but since I'm not at home I cannot, and I would like to know rather soon if possible. Thanks for any answers provided.

If you can't see each other in the nebulae, no combat will occur. Being on the warp point makes no difference.

I was thinking that but did not know for sure. Thanks Geo.

Re: Question on meeting in nebulas...
Another IMO odd feature of nebula systems (or any cloaked sector/system): If you can see the enemy because you have sensors that are potent enough but the enemy can't see you, your fleet will cowardly not engage the enemy if he enters the sector your ships are in. Therefore it is pretty useless to put any defences on warp points in such systems with cloaking abilities (with the exception of mines). You can only engage in combat if your ships are entering the sector where the enemy is, but then of course you loose the advantage of the defenders first move/shot and you can't do that with satellites or bases alone.

Really? Are you sure your ships weren't just cloaked, and therefore obeying orders to not initiate combat?

Re: Question on meeting in nebulas...
Yeah Q, it's probably what PVK said and your ships were cloaked as well as in an obscuring storm. Because what you are describing does happen when your ship is cloaked, but not when it's obscured by a storm or nebulae. If your ships in a nebulae have enough sensors to see the enemy they will engage, whether or not they are moving or merely sitting still and defending.

Re: Question on meeting in nebulas...
No additional cloaking, just the nebula. Just checked it again in Version 1.84 and ships will not engage if the enemy enters the sector altough the ships are seen. However if the enemy sees your ships then the combat will take place. The empire that moves must see the enemy otherwise no combat will occur.

Re: Question on meeting in nebulas...
Yeah, I tested it as well and could not confirm it Q, but unlike Rollo I only tried it in simultaneous. Is it turn based you are talking about here? Definetly sounds like a bug. You should send a save game to Malfador about that one even if it's just a turn based problem.

Re: Question on meeting in nebulas...
Here is a little extra info: I tried it again in turn-based. This time versus the AI. I sat in a nebula with a little fleet that had sensors to see the AI ships. The AI couldn't see me. Yet, when the AI was doing its turn combat would occur.
Seems what Q descibes only happens when a human player enters a sector in turn based mode.

Re: Question on meeting in nebulas...
Actaully that makes sense Rollo since the AI plays turn based games in simultaneous mode. So the problem is definetly something broken in whatever part of the code controls turn based movement.
