The best way to do that is to randomly generate a map first. Then you can delete the random warppoints, move the systems to where you want them, and so on.

I have a specifc configuration for the map, and trying to replace the systems from a randomly generated map sounds like it's more trouble than it's worth, especially since I now have all the systems and warp points in place. Am I stuck with manually placing all the stars, planets, etc, now?

Default Question about adding planets to maps

I'm just about finished connecting all the warp points in a map. There are a few systems that I want to design myself, then I'd like to just let the rest be created randomly. Can I do it?

You know what? After some more goofing around with the map I started on, I figured out what Suicide Junkie said to do is faster than continuing on the way I was, even though it meant starting over again. Anyone else who has just begun using the map editor, absolutely do it that way. It's much easier to create the systems without warp points. Then move the systems where you want them, and add the warp points afterward.

I hate it when I start out backwards.
