Unbreathable homeworld
Hello all -
been playing since se2, stopped for a couple years, and now im gettin back into the swing of things. I bought se4 gold, installed the latest devnullmod for se4 gold, and started playing. I started off with a sweet system - three planets breathable, and one was extra huge (an added size in devnull from what I understand)... and then my jaw hit the floor when I saw that my home planet was domed! I couldn't breathe... on my home planet
I never had this problem in se4 gold without mods, so I assume its because of the devnull mod. Any thoughts? Is there some way I can make it so that homeworlds are always breathable?
Thanks in advance
-Tim

What planets are in that sector?

Re: Unbreathable homeworld
It could happen if your homeworld is located in a system with moons (at least, it happened with me under such circumstances). The moon may be chosen as homeworld instead of the proper planet, and there might be other oddities such as having too much population on this planet.

Re: Unbreathable homeworld
Indeed, that was the problem! I remember starting the game in the same sector as a medium-sized oxygen/rock planet as my homeworld's moon, and I thought what luck!... but little did I know... my homeworld was actually a medium-sized rock with NO atmosphere. Thanks - that cleared it up!

Re: Unbreathable homeworld
I have made lots of system type entries with many systems having moons around planets, particulary gas giants - can the described problem be avoided by listing moons always after the parent planet in the data? Or is the only way to avoid this problem is by making this systems off-limits to homeworlds?

Re: Unbreathable homeworld
If the moons are of a size that can be selected as a homeworld, they will be selected as a homeworld. You have to mark that system as unable to be a home system.

Re: Unbreathable homeworld
Depends on the game settings.
Bad = small
Average = medium
Good = large
For FQM, I opted to leave Bad as not a working option, as I would rather have small moons all over the place than not have them.

Re: Unbreathable homeworld
I'd think I'll follow that sort of setup then. Better to drop the bad start option in favour of more plentiful moons.

Re: Unbreathable homeworld
Would that be medium size and above?
