Re: Warp Speed
I haven't come across this yet, but that may be because ships in SEIV don't have warp drives, and so can't go warp anything. Sure you've got the right game?

Re: Warp Speed
Check your options, there is a button for 'animate ship in combat' and 'animate ship in main view' or something like that. If they are turned off your ship just goes to the next point , ie, goes very very very fast (warp 32) . Just click the buttons back on. If this ain't it, then I have no idea.

Re: Warp Speed
I notice the game moves faster when my modem is on. Some people say it goes faster when some sound programs are on also. It also goes very slow for me when I have been using my modem and then turn it off and start the game without restarting the computer. So I can run the game at 3 different speeds depending on the state of my modem .
Edit: I just tried it with my new computer (the old one died Last month ) with a hardware modem instead of a "Winmodem" it doesn't seem to affect the speed of the game so that problem doesn't happen to me anymore. Either that or the latest patch fixed the problem. Without replacing my old motherboard, and/or CPU I can't try it to see if it was the patch or better modem that fixed the problem.

Re: Warp Speed
Turn off the "Play music" function (options) if you don't have the CD in. This increased my ship animation speed a lot.
What is Warp 32 ? As far as I know Warp 10 is absolute maximum in theory, you are omnipresent (at every point of the universe the same time) with this speed !

It wasn't the patch. I have 1.30 loaded, and still have this "bug" appear if I use the modem and then play the game. So it may very well be a winmodem thing...

Re: Warp Speed
Actually
Yesterday my ships started moving from point A to point B so fast That I Thought that my intel 400 was for the first time in it's life running at super speed. I have the trace on and the sip movement turned on.
It was quite weird. Since my computer runs 18 hours a day and 3 people use it, I am not sure what was done before I got home. I will reboot the system this evening and see if the ships still move that fast.

Now I have got that problem also. What has changed ? I have upgraded the memory of my PC from 64MB to 192MB (400 Mhz). So I guess it has something to do with system performance.
Mottlee, do you run other background processes (like virus scanner, SETI)? Because it seems you don't always have the problem, maybe sometimes the PC is slowed down by other occupations of the computer.
This is not a big problem (for me), but maybe someone knows how to slow down the ship movement w/o loading several other programs in parallel ?
