Map Editor
I'm going to create a map based on real stars out to 150 light years from Sol. Using avaliable data on real planet. And filling in with additional planets elsewhere. This will take A LONG time, and I will go slow, but I want to make sure someone else isn't doing the same thing....

Re: Map Editor
I have started one with stars out to 7 parsecs. I have the systems laid and about 1/2 of the warpoints done so far.
I was going to finish the warppoints and place stars and load it up for others to use as a template. The thing I noticed that flattening out the stars around us makes and making warpoints like I am doing out to 2.5 parseces between stars makes for a convuluted map. ( I am using the Z axis for distance calculation in my warpoints.)

Re: Map Editor
I am doing one based on the old Federation and Empire game...but I am adding some of the newer ST races to it along with more systems.

Re: Map Editor
Since SEIV is essentially 2D, is anyone doing a map based on their country/continent?
While I'm going that direction, has anyone considered a mod that turns SEIV from a space game into a land game? So planets become cities, systems become islands or states or something, etc.?
Or would that be sacrilegious?

LAF! You could make one of the United states with systems in the position of major cities and warp points generally following the Interstate Highway system. What a hoot!

Re: Map Editor
Yeah...you could do a lot with a map shaped like the US..for instance..the California Star Sytem would be restricted to 1 radioactive facility (low power capability)but with the ability of sucking energy from all nearby systems...for the Florida Star system we would need a special facility for chad counting....in Ohio on the planet of Cincinatti they could all be rioting...then of course the ships from the New York system would all have to be checkered yellow with the population extremely rude and heavily armed...
Ok...maybe a little too harsh...but still could be entertaining

Re: Map Editor
i dont know if this is really a bug or not, but i created a single-system map with the intention of seeing how brutal of a combat I could have with 20 players and 10 homeworlds each, the game hung trying to place the players. i presume because it could only stick one planet per sector and it ran out.

Re: Map Editor
My Lone Star quadrant mod did the same thing. Those games were a riot.

Re: Map Editor
That would be a good multiplayer scenario:
Last man standing win conditions, have a small number of individual systems unconnected by warp points. Place 2 players in each system and thn you have to decide whether to work together to develop WP tech and get out or glass your "partner" and go it alone...
