Re: Set up a game with allies and themes ?
I dont think so. But its not hard to make a copy of the .map file and add a few commands to the end of it.
ally AI and players to each other will not work.
AI with theme will.
AI allied to AI will work and will only happen if both of those nations are computer controlled in the game.

How do you make computer AIs allied? I just answered a gentlemen requesting information about that in the negative (that one couldnt do it), but obviously I am wrong.

6.18 #allies
These two players will not attack each other. This will obviously only be respected by computer players.
So "#allies 3 4" in a .map file will ally Man and Ulm.

That is GREAT!
My friends and I like to play 3 V comps. This is a great tool to keep it fair and not have all the comps duking it out too.
thanks!

Gandalf made a custom map for that purpose, too...

Re: Set up a game with allies and themes ?
just saw that. =)
We have been playing the demo, but our official copies just came in the mail today, so we'll have to check that out.
This looks like it could be just as bad as our Civ addiction...
Thanks for the answers and your work Gandalf!

Re: Set up a game with allies and themes ?
Thank you very much.
Do I understand correctly that I edit a map file with the command you gave me? (And save it under a different name, I suppose.) And does it matter where I enter that line, or which numbers I enter (between 1-17, can I ally all but me?)
thank you very much

Nope. Its too simple for that. Although I wouldnt mind if someone wants to make a more interactive one.
All mine does is take the Aran.map and turn it into a RandomOp.map exactly the same except that the name of the game becomes Random Opponents, and there are random AI opponents added. If I didnt have it wait for a "return" you wouldnt even know it had run. Its very fast.
