Smite
How good is this spell? I have the impression that it will kill anything that it hits, but its kind of difficult to get a priest that can cast it, so I haven't had much chance to play around with it.

Re: Smite
It's potent and accurate, although occasionally the priests have been known to take a disliking to pieces of empty land and smite it. It's of sufficient power that most human units will die instantly from a fatal overdose of smittenness. A single priest spam-casting it, perhaps with the aid of quickness, may often be enough to break an indy province of poor morale, such as Militias, before they even reach your lines.
If your nation has holy-4 priests, Smite is definitely something to consider when picking a prophet.

Re: Smite
is the spell valued much as it should by the AI? Lets say I create a communion of theurgs and 4 communicants, so they can smite all their heart's content without too much fatigues. I wonder if they will not revert to traditionnal spells, whereas smite could have prevented any passing out.
What I really miss in dom is a standing order of " cast spell xxx ", it would do so much good to the scripting engine, without adding complexity to the game.

You can boost Holy magic level through a communion? I guess that makes some sense, but I never thought of it before.

Re: Smite
Communion/Sabbath gives +1 in all magic paths, including holy. Crystal shield also boosts holy power, but only in battle.

Just to be clear, Sabbath/Communion increases all magic path levels of associated Masters by X levels, where X = base 2 logrithm of the number of Sabbath/Communion Slaves (rounded down to nearest integer IIRC)
So,
2 slaves give 1 level boost
4 slaves give 2 levels boost
8 slaves give 3 levels boost
so on.
