Does Soul Gate need gold?
Ermor Soul Gate summons their armies, and so they don't need gold for army building. Obviously, they do need to build temples, forts, labs. Can they get away with -3 disorder -3 sloth -3 cold?

Re: Does Soul Gate need gold?
Just don't forget to pillage (the population's going to die anyhow *shrug*), don't be afraid to alchemize, and don't build a temple if you can't defend it against the assorted raiding spells because that's 200 gold you'll never see again.

Yes ! And thus you spread your rotten dominions on your living neighbours
Get gold through pillaging (mostly) and alchemy for building.

Re: Does Soul Gate need gold?
Its not so much can they get away with it, its the standard. If you are going to play Ermor competitivly you TAKE 3turmoil, 3sloth, 3 cold. There is some difference of opinion about luck, but personally i leave it even because i dont want to take 3 turmoil and 3 misfortune together, especially since bad luck can kill temples.

Neither of the two population killing themes of Ermor should really _ever_ take anything other than turmoil 3 and sloth 3. You wil get more income for a few turns without these scales, but your population will be dead in a matter of single digit turns anyways. Thus, it will almost always be worth it to take these scales to their extreme. Fire magic is also much more damaging than cold magic to the undead, and with ashen ermor you have many units with cold radiation, so a cold scale benefits you here as well. You do take another income hit from this, but again that doesn't matter much when you don't plan to support a living army. You should also take death 3, as your population will die anyways.
I would think that the standard scales for both Ermorian themes would be something like:
Turmoil 3, Sloth 3, Cold 3, Death 3.
As for magic, I happen to like a +2 or +3 magic scale for Ermor, as it greatly helps your research. I also like the luck scale, as gem and income events are always welcome for a gold-starved Ermor player.

With SG Magic+1/+2 is OK because the ghosts have a better MR than Soulless/Longdead, but with AE it's dangerous ...

Sure magic 2 makes your soulless and longdead die faster to priests, but they were going to get wiped out by priests anyways, so the difference tends to not be that noticeable.
