OT: My UFO Encounter.. (True Story)

First, a picture to help me describe my encounter..



Way, way back around 1974, at around 10pm I was walking home accross the bay on a road the curves around the far end of the natural bay here in my home town. I was looking out accross the water when a strange movement caught my eye. I saw a streak of light kind of like a shooting star,(1) but it suddenly stopped and hovered.(2) I did a double take, what? then as my eyes focused on the object I noticed it was kind of oval and ever so slightly wobbeling slowly from side to side as it hovered. in the blink of an eye it moved down and to the left (3) hovered again for a few seconds then zipped again down and to the right.(4) I knew this was something strange, and quickly glanced around to see if anyone else was around to witness the strange object. As I turned back to watch the object it jumped again to the lower left.(5) This time I had a noticible clue to the distance it was from me, I saw it's reflection on the water and the trees on the edge of an island at the mouth of the bay were illuminated. Then as fast as it arrived, it zoomed upwards angled to the right and dissapeared.(6) I scanned the sky for any other movement and saw nothing. A very strange event for a 14 year old boy.

What was it? I don't know. The next day I asked my friends if any of them saw anything, they didn't and of course they could not pass up the opportunity to make fun of me, but I know I did see something that night. Even to this day the memory of what I saw is still clear as the day it happened.

This is my one and only UFO encounter. was it 'Alien'? perhaps. But all I can say is that it really is 'Unidentified' so it qualifies as a genuine UFO in my books.

So, now that you all know I really AM crazy Have any of you seen strange things in the night sky? Do you have any stories that you would like to share?

OMG the Eee are coming!!
I've heard some simillar stories and most of them had a logical explanation. Maybe one of them could suit here... Was there a road climbing up and down hills near the coast? was it a litle cloudy? Sometimes, the lights of the cars reflexes on the clouds, and if the car heads a little up or down, the shinig spot seems to moove very fast .

Was it clearly a physical object rather than potentially a projection (e.g., reflection of spotlight)?

I have seen a few UFO's - sudden flashes zooming overhead - my best guess was generally meteors, but they certainly made me stop and wonder.

I have an Identified Flying Object story. It can't compare to strangeness to yours but it makes me think about all the practical jokers out there. About 4 years ago I had a job delivering papers in the wee hours. I could just feel something over head, a faint noise of wind? I don't know but I looked up and didn't see anything. Looked up again a few seconds later and this blimp was there and the pilot turned on this really bright light inside the balloon area illumiating the blimp from within and fired up his engines. Why was I being stalked by a blimp at nighttime? Anyway there was no advertising on the side and I never saw it during the day and my friends had ever seen a blank blimp during their daily activities. Kinda get the feeling they were using me to test how sneaky a blimp could be and for what nefarious reasons. I could best describe it as looking like the "Fuji" blimp but with no advertising.
I believe in otherworldly craft, but look for support or validation in the wrong group you can sure bring out the wacko's. I'm jealous! I wanna see one!

I saw a real life UFO. I was down in this cannon camping with friends, and we all looked up and saw the UFO. It was a bigg'in too. It had two yellowish lights in the front, and a whole mess of em on the top part. It made such a thunders sound we all though God himself was come back to Earth to exact his holly revenge upon whicked and unfaithful.

(About six minutes later God passed us in his 1978 Ford F150 Hiboy with his light bar on, and no exhougst pipes. We were in awe.)

It occured to us, as we all sat their drinking our beer, that we was in a canyon, and to get into the canyon, you have to drive down this long narrow windy *** gravel road. Duhrrrrrrrr. "Here's your sign." - Mine read: "Beer Makes You Stupid."

I myself have seen some strange things while I was in the service that were unexplainable, one time back in 1967, we had a slew of them over our base as well as the city next to it, it was in all the papers, I myself did see some things. But I do have a story to tell, and from what I understand it is written in a UFO investigative center somewhere, can't remember where... I will post it in another post here as it is quite lone.

Back in the 70's, I think it was in 72 or 73, I was working night shift, when my partner and I got a call to respond to an area in our town in regards to a female reports a UFO landing. When we arrived we met a 20 yr old female who stated that she had seen a UFO at that location and that it had landed somewhere behind some woods. We said, Ya right lady, however, about 10-15 mins. later, we received another call to respond to an address about half mile further down the road in regards to 2 women claiming that something was destroying their home. When we arrived, we met 2 older women who were scared to death, white as ghosts and shaking like a leaf, (this was around 2am). They stated that they had been up watching TV when they saw a very large hairy creature, staring at them thru their window, they described it as being close to 8' tall, covered in hair, walked upright and it scared them. They stated they heard it pulling stuff off their house. Well, after we calmed them down, we checked the outside of the home, What we found stunned and surprised us. We found that all the window shutters had been pulled off the house and thrown on the ground. Now these were old time shutters, a goo 2" thick heavy wood installed with wooden spikes, they were ripped right off, in addition, all the tree limbs next to the house were broken off up to a little over 8' high. AND, we found a very strange footprint in the soft dirt. We measured it and it was over 20" long and 8" wide. It had 3 toes and 2 large bulges on the sides.We also found some hair and blood on one of the shutters which we took for analysis. Well we followed the apparent direction this supposedly thing took until we came into the heavy wooded area, where, We heard a strange growling like sound, and saw a pair of reddish yellow eyes staring at us. Being the brave fellows we were, we of course decided to head back to the house and check on the ladies. Over the course of the next several hours we received numerous calls of peoples animals going crazy, barking and running around like they were crazy. Then we received another call from a home on a street just down the road but in the opposite direction of our initial call. They reported their garage being destroyed. When we arrived we found that the back of the garage had been torn completly out. It had been ripped open from the outside. The owners also reported that their animals woke them up going crazy, running around the house, barking etc. Well we received so many calls, we started to compute the times etc, and they all matched the time around the initial reported landing. Well, because of all the damage and complaints, a search party was organized and we as well as about 30 others searched the area in question. We found (hard to describe in writing) paths thru the woods where the weeds etc, had been like rolled to each side like waves, after following the paths, we found a very large burned out area a field surrounded by trees where all the grass and weeds had been burned off, In addition we found 3 indentations into the ground spaced like a triange what looked like what could have been landing legs. Well the papers got a hold of it, and the next day, 2 officers from the USAF operation Blue Book appeared and told our boss that what was seen was a satalite that came down in the Med. however, all our reports , logs etc were taken by them including our fur and blood samples. there is more, but I don't want to put anymore of it in writing... Big Brother is still Watching... from what I was later told, this was posted in a UFO research location and is on record with them (as well as the good old US gov.)

PS. The 2 ladies, left the home that night while we were there, never returned, put the house up for sale and moved.

Wow, thank you for posting that very scary and fascinating story. I'm not sure I'll be able to sleep tonight after reading that ... I think I'll leave the lights on when I go to bed.

Thats a rather interesting story Mac, Sasquatches in space it seems. Very dam weird. I have to ask you one thing Mac, when you decided to follow this thing were you armed or not? Because if you weren't you are the bravest guy i know

What i really find strange about all the alien stories people here about is the fact that they somehow travel to earth and then start destroying property and acting like, with no offence to Major Primitive, a barbarian

With the current administration i'd say they probably know absoloutely nothing Would you trust Bush with information on aliens? But there's definitely something creepy going on out there
