If nothing else, download a live CD of Knoppix. I am sure it has a CD writing program, and is quite free.

Knoppix is a variation of Linux that runs off of a bootable CD. You can download it from:

KNOPPIX is a bootable CD with a collection of GNU/Linux software, automatic hardware detection, and support for many graphics cards, sound cards, SCSI and USB devices and other peripherals. KNOPPIX can be used as a Linux demo, educational CD, rescue system, or adapted and used as a platform for commercial software product demos. It is not necessary to install anything on a hard disk. Due to on-the-fly decompression, the CD can have up to 2 GB of executable software installed on it.

You could also just pull the hard drive out, and get a big new one to use as the Primary/OS drive
At $1/gig, they're pretty darn cheap these days, and odds are you could use a bigger drive

Oh well
The "can't delete your data if its not plugged in" theory still works though
