Default Yet another reference document. - updated

I've been circulating this reference document around with some of my friends that I play dom2 with, and it was suggested that the community could benefit from it. So here you go, everyone. (attached above) =)~

It's in .xls format and is intended as more of a broad view, though it does have some specifics in it. As such, I made it with newer players in mind - like myself.

Basically, I wanted a single-stop reference that I could use offline, and that allowed me to crossreference and filter/sort certain details.

It has tabs for spells, weapons, armor, and pretenders, as well as hyperlinks between tab entries for various info. For the most part, the spell information is all info available in the manual, but easier to look up here. The armor, weapons and other stats, I have culled form various other resources Online and credit the authors of those on the acknowledgements tab. I also have plans in the future for info on unit stats.

I know I use it a lot for myself, but don't know if anyone else would find it handy. Let me know if you do, and I will continue to keep the updates posted as I add other info.

NOTE - 03/22 - uploaded v1.7

Love the spell list daesthai. Far more user friendly than the book and displays a greater amount of info than the Online grimoire site. You know that there is already an .xls of national and summoned units, right? Maybe you could just drop that into yours for like the ultimate dom2 excell sheet.

Glad you like it, Ironhawk. I've seen the lists you mention and I they're what I'm using as a basis for those tabs. Trying to do some format tinkering to get them to "sortable" states. =)

If you really credit the authors of the other documents, then why does my name not appear on your list of acknowledgements?

You've flat out copied my weapons and armor document into that section of the Tome, and I do NOT take kindly to being left out of the references.

The pretenders could have been taken from either Sunray's unitattributes.xls or the Dom2_DB_Units.xls, which is a document I've produced and also available for download, so I've no issue with that. However, if site recruitable units appear in that DB overnight without my name in the acknowledgments, I will be extremely displeased, because afaik the only available reference source outside of the game for those statistics is my document.

I've spent a LOT of my own time producing the Dom2_DB documentation for the community, so it pisses me off that my material appears in other documents without proper crediting. It's not as if Arryn for example left my name out when she posted my stuff on her pages, nor did Sunray.

Edi,

You are correct. I did make use of your weapons/armor DB and I did leave your name off of the credits. For that I sincerely apologize. I had created the other tabs several months ago and made the credits list at that time. It is only within the Last couple of weeks that I added the weapons/armor tabs, and I forgot to update the credits with your name. Let me assure you that it was in no way intentional nor malicious.

And let me clarify to everyone that I am by no means claiming authorship of the material in the document. That is why I listed my name as "compiled by". I claim credit for the spell descriptions, various info columns on the spells tab, hyperlinks between tabs and cells, and the pretender availability by nation tab. The other information was taken from several other documents, all of which I'm sure most of the people in this community are familiar with. Granted, I made some very minor tweaks to some of the format (not all, mind you), but I definitely want to give the authors their due. My intent was simply to consolidate the info into a single place and make it as easy for *me* to reference and read possible.

I have updated and replaced the attachment to v1.5 which includes Edi in the credits.

Edi, once again, I apologize for the oversight. If you prefer me to remove the armor and weapon tabs, I will do so. I admit the error, but insist that it was unintentional.

That's okay, I know it happens sometimes. I've made the same unintentional mistake myself once long ago, and caught heat for it. The reason I pruposely took such a harsh tone here is that I wanted to shock you a bit, it will make you remember it for a very long time and will prevent you from repeating the mistake in the future. I know it did that for me when I unintentionally offended someone I greatly respect and got a very tersely worded admonishment for it. Just thinking about it still makes me cringe, and it has been years...

No hard feelings toward you on my part, and I hope there aren't any on yours either. Feel free to use any and all of my material in the compilation, as long as myname stays in the credits.

Fanaticism is marked as a combat summoning spell.

Great work here by the way!

Well, you certainly got my attention. I nearly broke my fingers typing away trying to recheck my sources. hehe. Well, as you said, I won't be making THAT mistake again anytime soon.
