Default Star Creation

Hey, all you Stellar Manipulation experts:

1) Does creating a star cause damage to any planets, ships, units in the system?

2) Is there a limit to the number of stars in the system other than the obvious number of empty sectors?

3) Can stars be created anywhere in the system? What about more than 1 in a sector?

4) Does having a Ring/Sphereworld in the system matter?

5) Is there anything special about a created star? i.e. do they act exactly like a map-generated star?

Thanks in advance.

1) creating causes no damage to anything in the system.

2) The limit is One star per system. I'm not sure but if there are more than one star creators ordered to create in the same turn (in a simultanious game) then you may be able to create more than one.

3) Can be created Anywhere.

4) A ringworld or sphereworld counts as one star in the system.

5) Created Stars are identical to normal stars.

Sort of. The presence of a ringworld or sphereworld prevents star creation, but does not fuel solar collectors or the crystalline solar resource facilities.

So, I can't create a star in a system that already has a star, ringworld, or sphereworld... There goes my strategy to destroy my strongest enemy. Shucks...

A ringworld will also prevent planets from being created. You get a message that planets can't be created in a system with no stars.

I just checked, simultaneous star creation does not circumvent the one per system restriction.

Darn it. I just captured an enemy star making ship (muuaahahahah, and other sinister noises) and, having chosen Crystal tech and all, I had ideas of a building Solar Generators and adding a hundred or so stars into that system. I guess it's worth more if I scrapped it... Probably even worth building a Recycling Facility first. Hmmm. I'll do the math. Thanks anyway, guys.

edit: Btw, what about those map-generated binary and trinary star systems. Are you sure about the limit on stars per system???

Yes. The one-star limit does not apply to maps when they are not being used in game (ie. being generated or being edited with the map editor).

The limit is ignored during map creation and in the map editor. It only applies during actual game play when new stars are created.
