OT: New Generation Video Cards
I was wondering if any one here happens to know the skinny on the new generation PCI video cards and how they might be, or are, better than AGP video cards?

Re: OT: New Generation Video Cards
Faster, the 16x PCI-E cards have a much faster data transfer rate. So data can get back and forth from the computer to the cards RAM and GPU. It is really not a huge preformance gain right now but since the cost is about the same you might as well go for the PCI-E card.

Re: OT: New Generation Video Cards
Thanks. There is so much new technology out that its hard to keep track of it all. I am looking at some of the tech sites and am just blown away by it all. New memory, CPU choices, and hardware. I just bought a DVD burner and am having a hell of a hard time figuring out how to burn my home movies onto DVD as 20 minutes of video is 8 gigs and I know THATS not right. I am using Nero 6. (Somthing) came with the DVD burner.
Tis a PITA.

Re: OT: New Generation Video Cards
Note that you'll need a motherboard that supports PCI-E.

Use Nerovision. Should be w/ the suite. If you have Ultra edition, it will allow you to edit & neat stuff like that.

Thanks Electrum. When are we going to have a rematch? Get CNC, Gandalph, Tnarg, and the guy who played the Gorn in a new game? (And ya the Ferengi player as well).

Re: OT: New Generation Video Cards
Right now, the NForce 4 PCI E 16 boards with Asus X850's Cards seem to be top of the heap. But that will change sooner than later.

Re: OT: New Generation Video Cards
Its being recommended to wait until later this year or next, before splashing out on them
By then, the prices will have dropped and be more reasonable
Plus, more options would be about too
