Default Unit forwarding automatically

Unit pathing. Is there any way to "forward" units automatically without having to issue orders to each ship. For example, if I am builing BC's in the Po-Dunk system, can I map it so that any ships that come to Po-dunk VI automatically move to Ikrod III (the chokepoint where I need ships) when it is constructed.

This was always a nice feature in Empire Deluxe if anyone ever played that

Look for "Waypoints" in empire options. They do exactly what you are describing.

To be more specific, once you define a waypoint under Empire Options, go to the appropriate build queue (or build queues) and set the move to option. You have to set the waypoint first; the move to option only looks for waypoints.

Thanks, it will be a huge time saver!

I have 31 systems and 3 chokepoints that I am directing all ships to any way.

Thanks!

This is one area that a change might be helpful. I remember (or I am hallucinating) in MOO, you could go to the destination star and then change the location where you want all the ships to move to. This was great when you finally won that big battle and now wanted to move your rally point forward. You moved things once for the destination, rather than once for each star producing. It also had a nice visual cue, showing you exactly which planets were connected to which. Right now in SEIV, I have to go through planet by planet, checking each one.

Right now I am playing a low maintenance race and managing all the ships is getting time consuming.

If I recall correctly, you can just set the waypoint to a new location. They production queues are not tied to the "location" but to the waypoint so you can do exactly what you described for MOO.

Ahh, waypoints!

Let me play with those, the answer was probably right under my nose.

Thanks for the advice>

Stars was really good for that.

You could set a ship up to move to point a grab units and move to point b and drop them and then repeat until a or b was done then move on to point c.

In seiv I just mimic this with queing up a ships commands.

I have noticed that ships will carry out orders until they cannot then they clear their orders.

This is great for filling up planets with units or pop.
