What is a PALACE?
You know it surely, the ability.txt file contains an entry called "palace", which is not described nor used in the game.
I want to understand its use.

Re: What is a PALACE?
Its an ability that was never programmed in..it doesn't do anything.

Re: What is a PALACE?
SEIV Modding 101 explains what every ability does in chapter 16.

Re: What is a PALACE?
There are several such abilities IIRC; modders often use them to add a description bullet to the component/facility/hull/etc. description. This can be handy to poin out such things as special damage types for weapons, target types, etc.

Re: What is a PALACE?
All weapon stats and info other than to hit modifier are shown in-game already. This is the only one that needs an ability tag or adding to the description, really.

Re: What is a PALACE?
Yes I know, but many people fail to notice certain oddities in the target/damage type fields. You yourself (IIRC) have once said that many people take specific Fighter weapons in Adamant, as opposed to mounted "normal" weapons, because they see that the damage of Fighter-specific weapons is larger than that of mounted "normal" weapons. What they fail to notice is that Fighter weapons only target Fighters, and as such, when they launch fighters to defend a planet from attacking capital ships, the fighters cannot fire on the ships. This can cause confusion. Ability description bullets can point to such, easily overlooked, stats.

Re: What is a PALACE?
I just did that exact thing last night actually. noticed it right away in the battle. Luckily it was a single player game with tactical combat so I just rammed the ship that was attacking me.

Re: What is a PALACE?
Exactly. See? It can be handy to point out target and damage types with ability bullets.

Re: What is a PALACE?
Don't worry, damage type confusion with fighter weapons will become even more prevalent in Adamant 0.16.00.

IF it had ever been implemented it would have been the 'seat of government' which controlled your empire. So, when it was destroyed you would have command & control problems, possibly a large hit to population anger levels, etc. Hopefully MM will actually install this in SE V so we can have that little extra bit of realism.
