Re: B5 Shadow Ships
My only nitpick about either is those little orange lights, ditch em if your going for authenticity. Then go for texture #1

Re: B5 Shadow Ships
I say keep the lights. These images will be dark enough as is.

Re: B5 Shadow Ships
Here's an idea for making it more visible against a space backdrop... why not put some sort of glow or border enhancement on the image, so that it sort of looks like an outline of a ship? (That would be a cool effect for cloaked ships too, BTW... the ship with the little dotted circle around it used in SE4 is SO dorky )

Neon ground effects for your pimped out battlecrab, eh?
This sounds like a great idea though. A faint background glow near the ship wouldn't blot out much of the actual background, but would make the ship visible against the starmap to improve gameplay.

Re: B5 Shadow Ships
I think what you need to do is use a metallic sheen on something that isn't quite black. There is a distinct 'gleam' about the surface of the shadow ships and I don't think a plain black can capture it. Maybe if you blend a very deep 'metallic' purple with black you can get the right look.
