player placement
when creating a custom map, and setting player starting positions, it does not seem to be possible to have a player start in multiple systems.
it will seem to pick a starting point at random, fill all the starting planets in the same system that you have markers on, and instead of doing the same in other systems with markers in them, it dumps the rest of the players planets into the first system.
can anyone confirm, and does anyone know if there is a workaround?

Re: player placement
I ran into that problem when setting up my Voyager Scenario. Don't remember the specifics other than I had to change the way I planned to set things up.

Re: player placement
I can confirm, I have the same problem with the map I am making for the Diplowar II game. If you find a solution please post it here !

Re: player placement
I have not seen a solution to it.
I became so fed up with it I just put starting points on suns in systems with only astroids or suns.
Then the computer will pop down 3 to 5 planets depending on the starting planet number.
This has been like this since the map generator came out

Hey GUTB where did you go...???
He is still driving his mighty armada at 3 miles per month along the interstellar highway bypass and will be arriving shortly

Re: player placement
Only suggestion I can com e up with is to treat it like a scenario: start the game, then colonise whichever planets you want as starting plants and abandon the rest. Save, and thre is your map.
Not very satisfactory for all situations, but...

Re: player placement
I see no other solution than the one suggested by dogscoff.
And I just had a test game where the ten planets of an empire were in a black hole system!! The planets were not sucked into the black hole but even then it's certainly not reasonable to choose a black hole system as starting point! Anybody seen this before?

Re: player placement
in older Versions of the game that was common behavior. since then, the valid starting position tag on various systems types was fixed, and asteroids nebulae and blackholes should not get starting planets. i think the exception is if all other valid starting systems are occupied.

Re: player placement
I generate a large map (with about 150 systems) with lots of good inhabitable systems - yet one of the computer empires got put in a black hole system...so I think they're might be some bug affected the placement of planets...
