Q. about magic sites underwater.
In my second turn of a new game I conquered an underwater province from independents. There was a magic site there w/o me having to search. Why is that? I thought sites had to be found by me or AI players.
Will there be all types of sites underwater? Blood, fire, etc??

Re: Q. about magic sites underwater.
i think the only underwater sites are water specific and there are 0 level sites that you dont have to find (an d some places just have sites discovered) you might find other sites underwater (fire/blood) but im not sure.
that didnt really help much did it?

Re: Q. about magic sites underwater.
You can't find blood or unholy sites underwater, but all other paths you can. Some sites don't require you to search for them, this usually means they are not very powerful sites, however.

Re: Q. about magic sites underwater.
Each kind of magic site has a level (it can be as high as 4). A level-2 site requires a search by a level-2 mage in the right path to find it. A few sites, though, are level-0. These are found automatically if you own the province. They include some things that we don't think of as "magic sites" (like Library and Arena) because they don't give gems - but they do take up one of the 4 "slots" that could be filled in each province. Some of the level-0 sites do give gems, though, and one of the nature ones is fairly common underwater.
Also note that gem sites do not always give the same type of gem as the path required to search. For example, there is a water-1 site that produces 1 fire gem per turn.

Re: Q. about magic sites underwater.
Also the level of the magic site might seem unusual.
Example:
I found a blood site which gave 3 death and 1 astral(?) plus I could recruit sorcerors... it was level_2 blood.
Did a search of with a level_4 blood character at the same location and found another magic site which gave 20 gold income and 5 unrest. Not sure why this one was considered more special.

Re: Q. about magic sites underwater.
There's a "Magic Sites DB - by Edi" .. comprehensive Dom2 site list in XLS and SXC format on Arryn's Dominions Page:
http://www.dominions-2.org/files.htm#docs
.. look for the above title.
