Re: Israel Invades Lebanon - Current Campaign
Looks like Bint Jbail should be the next one if we can get any info and maps of the area. Depending on what can be found out, maybe even a campaign.

Re: Israel Invades Lebanon - Current Campaign
Fascinating thread here!
I actually started an Israeli Hezbollah campaign several days after the actual fighting began, and since the Syrians and Iranians are allied with Hezbollah, naturally their forces have ocassionally poppd up.
Looking at the actual level of participation the two countries have in this situation (something I like to call a hands off support of Hezbollah),I'm wondering about ways to make my simulations more realistic.
Any suggestions would be really helpful.

Depending on the "contingency level" of your campaign (i.e. size and mechanization of the forces), you may want to switch these allied forces to captured items, if that's possible at all.
That would give you Hizballah-tagged units with Iranian and/or Syrian kit, which IMHO would fit nicely in the current situation of both countries sparing material support from behind a significant political standoff.
Apart from that, I don't know how much you can regulate the amount of allied/captured forces in the IA mix, which should stay quite low.
On the other hand, maybe you can insert some odd Iranian "advisors" units, but I don't know if they should be allied or captured units, since there is officially "no Iranian fighter in Lebanon" ... (waddya think, they have all been issued Lebanese passports before leaving! )
Just my tuppence, make what you want from that.

Heh, looks like the IDF took my idea to heart
Israeli naval commandos raided the Mediterranean port of Tyre early Saturday, destroying a missile-launch site and capturing Hezbollah terrorists, including senior members.

Re: Israel Invades Lebanon - Current Campaign
Hmm Also looks like there's a slight possibility of Germans being sent as peacekeepers.
------
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said he would welcome German troops participating in an international force in southern Lebanon, according to a newspaper interview published Friday. ...
Olmert said he told Merkel that Israel has "absolutely no problem with German soldiers in southern Lebanon."

This link provides good detail of forces and positions of the current conflict by day.. Hopefully this will help in scenario building :-)

Hmm, it appears that Hizbollah is using ATGMs as long rnage artillery; e.g. they're firing obsolete SAGGERS at Israeli forces. While they can't penetrate Isreali Merkavas, they can still treash trucks, and kill infantry with their limited blast.

Re: Israel Invades Lebanon - Current Campaign
Apparently an ISraeli CH-53D was shot down by an anti-tank weapon.

That should be replicable using ATGMs with HE ammo, probably with a decent (Sagger-type) penetration.
To be used carefully in scenarios though, since I have no idea how HE missiles will react against composite or reactive armor. There are chances that basic ERA won't affect them, and that they will deal against a tank's steel armour.
So be careful which Israeli vehicles you pit against these, if you madel them that way.

Re: Israel Invades Lebanon - Current Campaign
I played both scens and I got the reverse of everybody else, I found the first one easier. I got all the VP hexes and had only 1 tank immobilised, along with a few infantry casualties. OPFOR needs better AT capability, maybe? Even a couple of CQ Assaults on my tanks barely scratched the paint.
The second one I think I was just too cocky, having elite Isreali commandos under my command went to my head. I will have to try again.
Enjoyed both of them. Good job.
BTW how did ya get the whole map as a GIF file? Is there a utility out there?
