Default How about ammo trucks?

I'm now playing a scenario where I have some ammo trucks up one end of the board... and my tanks pretty much down the other. I could potentially get them trucks down there in maybe 5 turns.
There are some pesky jerries in the way.

Now... What'd happen about different ammo types.
A couple of my tanks used most of their HEAT earlier.
Will that get replaced if I sit them next to an ammo truck each - in what order are special rounds loaded, compared to regular HE etc?

Are ammo trucks worth buying in campaigns?
In the previous scenario, defending Veghel, I was taking on panthers with 105 HE, I almost ran out of HE before I got infantry up to take on the big cats.

Actually - direct fire with 105HE seems less effective against armour than I would expect.

I'd recommend some ammo trucks added to your core eventually. I mean, if you're going to use them a lot, you may as well add them. If they're permanently attached... then permanently attach them, right?

As I understand it, ammo is reloaded in the left-to-right order you see on the unit info screen: HE, AP, HEAT, APCR (not positive on those last 2, too lazy to open it up and check).

SO it could take a few turns to get round to HEAT...

It depends on how many of the other shells you've fired and how many units you are trying to re-equip at the same time.

Putting ammo units in your core is a good way to give the AI a little "boost" in its purchase points. As ammo units become more experienced their "value" (base cost adjusted for experience) increases so your core force value goes higher and the AI gets a purchase "budget" based on your core value.

Ammo units don't appear to benefit from increased experience (i.e. don't reload firing units faster) so the delta between their cost purchased as supplementals and their higher value as experienced core is a sort of "gift" to the AI it can use to buy more units. Very sporting!

Best,
Vic
