Default Searching home provinces for gem sites???

Do you need to search you home province for gem sites or is it assumed that you have knowledge of them all at the start of the game?

What about home provinces of nations you conquer -- do I need to search those?

There are supposed to be no additional magic sites in home provinces. However, I once found one using a monthly site-searching ritual. This was on a random map, and it may be that the random map generator introduces the possibility. If it does, its a bug.

I have had additional sites in my starting home province appear via random events. I assume this is mean't to happen and not a bug.

You could also definately find them on some of the created maps that have hard-coded magic sites. I remember one of them in Dom2 had Pythium's capitol site sitting on the map, allowing whomever got it to recruit Pythium's top mages. Another, I started on top of what I _knew_ was an A2S2 income site (or something like that) and had no way to find the site until I casted Akashic Record on my capitol.
