Stupid Question
Hi, I've been through the manual, and scoured the UI, but I could not find a way to make peace with an AI empire.
I assume it's the "Treaty of Peace" type treaty, but I can't send it without selecting some conditions... none of which seem to be "End the war".
Anyone care to help me out?

Re: Stupid Question
Any treaty ends the war. That is if you can get the AI to accept it, which I have never observed.

Re: Stupid Question
The name of the treaty doesn't matter. Just select one or more conditions and send it.

Re: Stupid Question
Well, any treaty that includes a cessation of hostilities clause.
There's no reason you can't sign a treaty that lets you keep shooting on sight.

Re: Stupid Question
Depends on the sort of peace you want ... you can ask to colonize in their space, or not to combat in neutral space, or to aid each other against another attack. The funny thing is, none of those examples are mutually exclusive or inclusive. There is a lot of subtle dimension to treaties in SE5 ... too bad, like Slick says, the AI often doesn't accept anything.

Re: Stupid Question
Thanks for all the replies. Yeah I kept sending offers to the AI and nothing was accepted. Seems once you enter a war it's a battle to the death.
Hopefully this gets a tune up after the major bugs/issues are taken care of.

Re: Stupid Question
Another stupid question:
Do you know the use of the picture files Pictures/Effects/Damage_xx.bmp ?
I haven't seen any reference to them anywhere...
Thanks

Re: Stupid Question
Those are probably animation sprites for combats. Explosions, laserbeams, projectiles, etc.

Re: Stupid Question
Thanks but most of animation are set in some modding files. I could not find reference to these in any file.
The goal would be to have the damage_05.bmp used for the damage on one of my new weapon...
