Default Colonization/treaty bug?

Ok, I have a treaty with a clause that says 'allows colonizing in each others systems'...

I attempted to colonize in another system and received a message that I cannot colonize in the system due to treaty provisions with someone.

But I have no treaties with anyone with forbid any colonizing. Only the one I mentioned. Any ideas what the problem might be?

Thanks,

Javaslinger

Can't help with that specifically. I did find at one stage I couldn't colonise planets in certain systems. I put it down to a treaty saying I couldn't colonise enemy space. I didn't receive a message stating as such though.

To clarify, the system that I am not being allowed to colonize in is the one which I have a treaty with that has a clause which says 'allow colonization in each others systems.'

I'm thinking bug...

I’m thinking the system is in dispute. I notice that when I check my system ownership with enemy system ownership they overlap. I think it has something to with the fog of war and the program defaulting to say “I can’t see everything there so it must be enemy”

IT doesnt' matter if the system is in dispute. You can colonize anywhere unless a treaty option forbids it.

In my case, the treaty option 'ALLOWS colonization in each others systems'

Or are you generically not allowed to colonize in a system of an enemy?

That might explain it I suppose...

Are you sure that a third empire doesn't have another colony in this system too?
Otherwise perhaps you could post your saved game, and someone might be able to check. I would but can't use SE V at work. :-(

even if there was another empire, I only have any colonization clauses with the one single empire....

You can colonize in a system another empire has colonies in right? I mean even if your not allies....

I'm posting a save game... the system in question is the Dertan system

The Dertan System contains the Norak Continuum and you do not have a treaty allowing colonization in their systems.

So you are saying that you cannot colonize in a system containing another empire without a treaty provision allowing it? OR does this only pertain to allies?

Thanks,

In the Dertran system there is already a colony of the Norak.
You do have a treaty with the Norak.
In your treaty with the Norak there is no element that allows colonization in each other systems.
If it is not allowed you can't do it.

You could colonize in this system if you had no treaty with the Norak or if the treaty contains the specific element that allows colonization in each other systems.
