UW, PD and fortresses
Hello everyone,
what a bad surprise last evening : after spending several turns to gather a waterproof army (not included in Abysia pack ;o) and invade some UW provinces, I then realize that I can't buy PD to protect them ... So logical because my troops can't breath UW, but ...
I think it was possible in Dom2 with local natives, but now not. Am I wrong ? Or I miss something in the manual ?
More : I can not build any fortresses UW !!! In Dom2, there was The Kelp Fortress, if I remember well, but now, what is left for us ? (note : even a UW commander can't ; I test it)
It's really difficult to buy losts of armies to protect your UW provinces (at this time, Ermor is arrassing me ...).
So, anyone have any ideas/solutions/suggestions ?
Thanks for all advices.

Re: UW, PD and fortresses
No, you can't buy UW PD, just the same as you couldn't in Dom2 either. You can only buy UW PD if you're Atlantis, Oceania or R'lyeh.
You also can't build any forts underwater unless you're one of the aforementioned nations, so you will either have to find the site Kelp Fortress (which gives a cave castle, not a kelp fortress) or you're out of luck.

Re: UW, PD and fortresses
Thanks.
Too bad (I mean : the situation AND my lack of memory ... ;o)
Well, I'll be back, and kick out Ermor out of MY territories !!!
At least when I'll manage to gather a sufficient waterproff army to beat them.

Re: UW, PD and fortresses
LA Mictlan and EA Agartha also have underwater defense. MA and LA Agartha have PD units that don't survive underwater, but their entry on the manual claims it includes underwater defense. You can't recruit PD, so it's a typo in the manual. MA Agartha might be intended to have some kind of PD underwater.
Kelp Fortresses can be found from Nature sites. They were very common in Dominions II.
Because we do have commands for modding what forts different nations can build, it would be pretty simple to give all landlubbers a single fort they can build underwater. It would be done with #selectnation <nation nbr> and #uwfort <fort nbr> commands.

Re: UW, PD and fortresses
Thanks for these precisions, Endoperez.
I will read more carefully, now
And for modding, I will do it when I'll see and understand and master all the base features from this wondefull game ... Let's say ... One hundred and eighty years ???

Re: UW, PD and fortresses
Endo, Kelp Fortresses cannot be found from nature sites anymore. The site itself still exists by the same name and is common, but it provides cave castle forts instead. I've tested that bug myself.

Ah yes, sorry. I rewrote that sentence a few times. I meant if more along the lines of "Kelp Fortress, the nature site, provides a fort", but got confused.

Re: UW, PD and fortresses
To create underwater castles, you can cast a montly ritual, Living Castle (4N 1W + 50N gems). You need an underwater breathing mage to build a lab at the planned site first.

Re: UW, PD and fortresses
Thanks DeathDeamon.
I feel stupid having post this thread ... I will make an effort to remember all the vital informations of this great and VAST game.
Eating fish ins't good for memory ? I will eat fishes. It's a good idea in an UW thread, finally.

*grin*
No, it's not a stupid thread. And remembering everything, good luck, that was difficult even in Dom2 when you were the person who documented half the things for the community to play with and now with 3 times the content...
