				 Orbital Space Yards
Do Orbital Space Yards need supply canisters? |

I'm going to guess yes, because they decided that EVERYTHING needs supplies regardless of whether it has engines or weapons. |

They seem to be able to build ships without any though. |

				 Re: Orbital Space Yards
Also, is it me or is it odd that orbital shipyards a slower than planetary ones. You'd think it'd be the other way round, what with the lack of gravity.

				 Re: Orbital Space Yards
The beginning space yard tech only build 1k at a time while the ground based does 2 I think. Increasing space yard tech probably increases the construction rate.
Working in low/0 G probably has it's difficulties too, until you get good at it.

Momentum would still be there and be even more dangerous.

				 Re: Orbital Space Yards
Yeah, they tend to fly stuff up into space and then stick it together. But the fine work is done with gravity.

Big stuff and momentum is the problem.
With little stuff, you can put it inside the machine tools and clamp it down. The problem there is getting rid of the waste.

				 Re: Orbital Space Yards
Always easier to build on Earth, but the only reason that (or at least the theory is , nowadays) orbital construction is prefered is that they won't have to build/supply engines that are capable of overcome Earths gravity (escaping speed is 1km pro seconds, if I recall correctly !!) |
