Supply Ships
I remember seeing this topic some time ago, but can't seem to find it on a search. My question is, how are supplies divided when a fleet splits? If I have a ship running low on supplies, and it joins with a ship that has many supplies, when they part how many supplies does each ship have?

As evenly as possible. Ships with smaller supplies can get fully refueled if a ship with a much larger amount of supplies joins a fleet.

Re: Supply Ships
It would be nice if you could transfer supply as you can cargo............... and if you can do this then I have missed a huge time saver.

Re: Supply Ships
If you build a "Supply Ship" you can not use a Transport to do it if you fill up say a Battle Ship fill it with Supply mods and you good to go...If you Fleet with 1 ship they will go 50/50 the more then it goes down.

Actually, you can. Just add a Cargo Storage ability to supply pods with a value of 0. It will be counted as cargo.

Re: Supply Ships
Or, you could bring a space yard ship along with the fleet. When the fleet is running low on supplies, park it somewhere and build a space station with nothing but the crew stuff. When it is built, put it in the fleet and on the next turn, all supplies will be replenished. Then, you can scrap the station and be on your way. You lose 2 turns doing this, but it would probably take a lot longer to go all the way back to a resupply base. Gotta love the built-in quantum reactors that space stations have!

Re: Supply Ships
The main problem with the supply ship is that when it leaves the fleet it takes back most of the supply points with it.
You can't have a fleet supplied by transports going back and for.

This works for me but it could be more expensive than other options.
<furiously taking notes> note: see any ship of Grffs' that isn't CTW and looks like a supply ship - vape it <end furiously taking notes>
I follow SJ's design, all my fleet colliers, tanker designs whatever are based on heavy or light cruiser hulls - if only for the ability to pretty quickly retrofit these ships into something combat capable should the need arise - it takes little time to switch between one of these babies and an escort cruiser loaded to the gills with enough point defence to make the most hardened fighter using AI to barf
Generally, I think it is infinitely preferably to expand by building "fleet bases" on small planets ie 3 facilities, 1 resupply, 1 cargo, 1 space yard all built at emergency rates rather than let your fleets run out and become chickenfeed to the first revved up AI with allegiance subverters that comes along
so basically, my colony ships go out with the fleet
