Default Default National Heroes

Since the topic of heroes just came up, I was wondering if there was some kind of list or details available for the national heroes in the default game. Perhaps something like one of Edi's cool database things?

Sorry if this seems like a stupid/lazy question, but I did a search, and couldn't find anything like that - seemed like a needle in a haystack situation.

Just seems like it would be nice information to have handy during race selection/pretender design, if you were planning on taking luck (thinking what things a likely hero might cover, rather than putting it on a pretender, etc.).

The heroes are in the DB. If you autofilter by unique status and then look at the special column at the end, it will say which nation the hero belongs to, though there might be some mistakes there.

Endoperez also has some sort of list of heroes, so you can take a look at them. Generally, few nations have heroes good enough that you should take luck scale just on their account. Even then, early game is usually when the heroes (especially some of them) can have an impact. Having the Blood Marshal show up on Turn 2 when playing LA Ulm is really sweet, for example, while getting Hierogallus the Hero as Pythium is more 'bleh' than anything else.

Thanks for the information and quick reply, Edi!

Yeah, a good many heroes in the standard game are 'bleh'. For example, I recently spotted that demon-hero of Yomi with regeneration. Of two. On a mighty 18 HP frame.

But I've seen a handful useful enough to perhaps consider during pretender design (such as the Harpy with Air 2 for Pangea). At least if you're inclined, like me, to regularly take Luck. Not necessarily just for the heroes, but for the other, often synergistic, benefits (cash, PD, magic items, free buildings, and perhaps most important - free, and otherwise unavailable gems).

The easiest way to view all the heroes is to download my worthy heroes mod and load the blackheroview map with my mod disabled. There you can see all the vanilla heroes.

And if you want to see which hero belongs to which nation, well I provided a handy list in the mod thread .
