enter site?
I just got the game and have been playing a lot of test games. One time I noticed a magic site that had an enter site option. Unfortunately I quit that game before trying that and I haven't seen any sites like that since. So I have a few questions.
What does entering a site do?
Can any commander enter a site?
How do I know a site is enterable?
Also is there a list of what every magic site gives you and how hard they are to find? Are there any sites that do any more than just give a set number of gems?
Thanks.

Re: enter site?
What does entering a site do?
- depends on the site, some give experience points, most give free troops
Can any commander enter a site?
- as long as he meets the requirements, some sites can only be entered by mages of a specific magic school, for example
How do I know a site is enterable?
- if it says so in the site description
There are very diverse magical sites and producing gems is not the only thing they do.

Re: enter site?
There are different types of enter site things. Some can be entered by any commander, like the Academy of War. The commander and all troops gain experience at 4x normal rate.
The other type are sites that require a mage of a specific type to enter them, usually to summon things but sometimes to cast a spell (like Astral Window for one turn). These sites have a "XYZ Mage can enter to <insert effect>" in the site properties.
It will always say that a site is enterable in the site properties if it indeed is so.

Re: enter site?
I didn't realize that the Academy of War granted experience to troops, too. Maybe I'll actually start using it now.

Re: enter site?
Neither do I !
Well, I'm going to check this as soon as I could.
I have a question, too : what exactly 'the Ancient Master' site do ? It seems that my commanders gain Experience, and not attack or defense boost (the site description says "enter for combat training" pretty fuzzy ...).
Thanks.

Re: enter site?

Re: enter site?
Both to units as well, I take it... that makes the ancient master a fantastic site!

Re: enter site?
Academy of War does grant experience...
really...
really slowly.
I'm not sure that it's worth entering, not if you actually have to pay for the commander who enters it. It might be good for commanders who have heroic abilities that improve quickly, like the one that grants extra HP, if you don't have a better use for them than to just sit on them. Then again, I tend to use SCs that get 10 times that much XP in a single battle, so maybe I'm prejudiced, but it's still really slowly-like 1 star a year maybe.

Kristoffer O posted February 23, 2004 22:14
"Does anyone know how a kill coresponds to an XP on the hall of fame?"
Not sure but something like this:
Deaths x5
Experience (points, not lvl) x2
Kills x1
From a post by Johan O in another thread:
Here is a list of effects (cumulative!) of increased experience.
XP 1 (15pts)

XP 2 (50pts.)

XP 4 (200pts)

Def +1
Prec +1
Mrl +1
Enc -1
HP +2
XP 5 (400pts)

All units, except mindless ones, get:
1 exp per turn

+3 exp for winning a battle
+1 exp for hitting an enemy in melee combat
Champions Skull (Con- , Death-2): +3 Exp/turn to the wielder
Academy of War gives 4 exp per turn,
The Ancient Master gives 8. (to commanders AND troops!!)
