Re: gonegold.com
Don't you know? Every game needs a deep back story, otherwise you are forced to use your imagination.

Re: gonegold.com
DEAR GOD! THEY ARE FORCING PEOPLE TO THINK! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Honestly, bask stories are good and not good.
Example:
Starcraft has an excellent story line and history.
Good example.
However, the story line is so good, that making a Starcraft II could easily upset the fan franchise and cause a loss in funds.
MM left the story line open for us fans to fill.
the Map editor allows up to create many many campaigns on top of that.
Ultimat Mod II will, hopefully have a ver exciting and epic campaign taking place over several thousands eons and the history of the universe.

Re: gonegold.com
I am glad that SE doesn't have a back story. Part of the premise of the game is that you create that backstory as you play.
SE4 has that 'generic' quality, that (not in a bad way) leaves it up to the fans and modders/scenario makers to add the story.

Re: gonegold.com
Ya. I pestered 'em to make sure they stayed on top of SE4G, to make sure it got the coverage due such a phenomenal game.
Of course, I probably wasn't the only one.

quote: Hurricane Gaming (3.5/5) "On the surface, there are a lot of limitations to this game. The mediocre graphics, poor sound effects, and lack of a formal story are pretty major, but I want to impress on people that I still love this game. I paid the full price for SE4 and I don’t regret a cent of the purchase"
Disregard this review. The guy was smok'in crack and had been up for 6 days strait when he mistakenly wrote this review of our beloved game. (Flame yes, but honestly... who flamed first. A 3.5/5 - give me a break!)

Re: gonegold.com
Just curious, but why in the world do you need a deep backstory for a 4X game?

Re: gonegold.com
One thing that always got me in StarCraft was on the terran mission where you lose kerrigan, even if she is with the main force of massive numbers, and is in a transport, she still gets captured. Amazing, she must run willingly to the Zerg
The story must go on though

For good game reviews done by people who actually like the games they are testing go visit http://www.gamesdomain.com
The even had SE4 Gold shipping in their news.
The review of SE4 is here:

Space Empires IV gives you the option of starting with a colony ship orbiting your starting planet
Huh? The option to start with only a colony ship?
