I try to patch Dominions on Mac, but no luck!
I really hate Mac... really hate it, especially when I follow the directions in the readme.txt of the dominions_314 patch. It says move the Dominions 3 application on the desktop, run the "patchme" command. I do that. It seems like it works, I don't get an error, but when I start the game, it says 3.00 at the bottom.
What the hell, how do I do this!?

Dunno. Maybe it did work, but they forgot to put the correct version number on the new patch? I'll upgrade my Mac copy tonite and see if it does the same thing to me.

We have jobs.
Some questions:
-- did you start with v3.00?
-- are you running as an administrative user? there are occasional permissions problems
-- did you move or copy the application to the desktop? if copy, are you sure you ran the version you updated?
Later I will try to give you some Terminal commands to probe this issue more.

Yes.

Most likely.

I installed the application by clicking "Dominions" on the desktop, it installed. The folder is somewhere else, but the "Dominions" is on the desktop. I tried moving both the folder and the "Dominions" to the desktop. Nothing worked so far.

Re: I try to patch Dominions on Mac, but no luck!
Hmm. I have a Mac and had no trouble patching.
Have you double checked your permissions? The first time I tried to patch Dom2 on a mac, I could not do it because I had not changed the permissions. If you click command-i on the dominions 3.app, you'll bring up the info on the .app, and you can make sure you have read & write permissions. Otherwise, the patch will not be able to update the .app file.
If you hate Mac so much, why aren't you using a PC instead? Why torture yourself?

Re: I try to patch Dominions on Mac, but no luck!
I just installed the patch just fine. Make sure you move both the patching folder to your desktop, and you actual Dom3 app to the desktop. They must both be in the same place. Then run the patcher.command application. It should work.

Re: I try to patch Dominions on Mac, but no luck!
If this did not work, then it is probably a problem with patching all the way up from 3.00 to 3.14. You may have to incrementally patch the previous versions, and then up to 3.14. Hopefully this is not the case, since I have no idea where to find the previous patch versions.
