Mercenaries question
Please remind me - if I hire mercenaries in the castled province, and on the same turn enemy attack the province and besiege my castle, will mercenaries appear within the castle alongside my defenders? Or will they take my money join my enemy? (which would happen if the enemy would conquer my province without castle, IIRC)

Re: Mercenaries question
Look in your manual about turn resolution sequence. Learn that list by heart. IIRC Mercenaries is at the very end of it, which means that if you lose control of the province, the mercenaries won't pop up.

RTFM is a popular answer, but not the one I was looking for. And BTW I am not sure you are correct, IIRC I've read in manual that if you lose control of the province merces you were planning to hire there will take your money and join your enemy. Granted I never seen it happened myself, but than again I never hire merces to the province that I am in danger of losing.
But in any case, my question was about castled province - the situation where the ownership of the province is contested. (Enemy controls most of the province, but you still hold the castle)
Does anybody know for sure what would happen in such situation?

Re: Mercenaries question
About the Mercs working for the enemy on your dime, That is listed in the FAQ on this forum, but I am fairly sure it is not accurate. Many times in SP I have hired mercs in provinces that were taken and they do not show up there next turn.
I don't know about the castle situation.

Re: Mercenaries question
They no longer take your money and join the enemy. It used to work that way, but somewhere along the way it was patched and now if you lose a province, you just get a refund on the Mercs.
I'm pretty sure you just won't get the Mercs in the scenario you describe. But you should test it in SP (play two nations) if you want to be really sure.

I didn't say RTFM I said that the turn resolution sequence list is important. Which was an aid to understand where the solution was coming from. No need to be huffy about it.

I understood your initial question. And my answer was: If you lose control of the province, the mercs don't show up.

I wasn't trying to be huffy, it's just that I happen to know turn resoultion sequence quite well - I've been playing Dominions 2/3 for 3 years. But knowing sequence doesn't really help you with determining if merc would appear within the castle or not in the situation that I've described.
Anyway, I understand your answer, and I think you and others are right - the merces will probably just not appear. My thanks to everyone for the assistance.

Re: Mercenaries question
Tested it to be sure. The mercs just do not appear, and you get your money back.
