Lead Shield
Is Lead Shield useful on units that have higher than 0 encumberance? It's parry value seems quite low when compared to other Earth-based shields of same or lower level.
Lead Shield: prot 22, parry 6, enc 3
Kite Shield: Prot 18, parry 6, enc 2
Black Steel Kite: prot 28, parry 8, enc 2
Black Steel Tower: prot 25, parry 9, enc 2
Shield of Valor: prot 20, parry 8, enc 1
Is it useful as-is? Does Lead Shield need a boost? I'd give it at least parry 7, to give it the same final defense adjustment as nonmagical Kite Shields.

Re: Lead Shield
It raises MR, doesn't it? Or do I remember wrong?

Re: Lead Shield
I suppose the parry value is lower due to it being considerably heavier to lift/move around.
The only reason I ever equip a lead shield is purely for the +4 to MR. Its the enc thats the killer thou, but any bonus would be good and 7 sounds reasonable.
In MP they are very unpopular, meaning errr, I have never seen one equipped by another player, other than me that is.
Only nations with no S mages being targeted by MR resisted spells need use them, MA Argatha for example to protect its thugs.

Re: Lead Shield
I saw it the previous turn on a bog mummy pretender with total resistance of 36. And that was clever enough in that situation I must say.

Yes, it does, but Lucky Coin and Charcoal Shield and the like have at least as powerful abilities, but higher final parry values AND lower encumberance.

Re: Lead Shield
It depends on situation. There're not too many common items that raise MR and in some cases this may be crucial.
Charcoal shield is much harder to forge, btw.

Re: Lead Shield
The Lucky Coin too. The Lead Shield is available soon in the game and is cheap.

Re: Lead Shield
I really don't think that lead shield may be useful for anything but MR-heavy SC's and MR is a mid-late game issue usually. So normally you won't make a Lead shield early in the game and thus in doesn't matter whether it is Const2, 4 or even 6. I think that it would be fine if it had better stats and was Const4 or 6.

Re: Lead Shield
I put a lead shield and a awe shield on an air queen to combine with another air queen setup to do shimmering fields. It was quite nice against R'yleh since I needed an *** ton of MR.
