I meant no disrespect. I lived in Japan off an on for Five years. Hello sounded like "ohio" and orange juice sounded like cow-do pissu donk. It's like they had a diffrent word for everything.

Interesting, my snide remarks about Ohio has obviously triggered some deep-felt feelings amongst all you North Americans.

The general consensus again appears to be that it is not a particularily nice place to live, but that a fair chunk of you obviously have an affinity with the place.

There also appears to be quite pronounced bigotry dependant on whereabouts you live in the state.

Interesting, the base conclusion has to be to move out to California, the weather is better and the young ladies are all "enhanced"

Yes can you give us the tracking number for the box so we can all watch its progress? The reason I asked for a real thread on PBW status was because everytime I comer here and see this thread has been updated, I get all excited and run to PBW to see if we are back up and am sadly dissapointed. These mood swings are bad for my health. Do not be surprised if I bring a lawsuit against you for it a few years from now.

You should not be disapointed that PBW is still down. We told you it could be as much as a week.

If it's still down Tuesday morning, you have my permission to be disapointed.

Well actually, I enjoy the summer family reunions. It sure beats the AZ heat.

Ohio is a pretty green place. I hear tell that it's a school holiday when the sun comes out.

Allright Bman. Some real news finally.

I am probably going to regret telling you all this, but I have received the server, and it's in one piece.

I am still going to need a couple days to get it set up in the new location, so don't plan on being able to use PBW before Monday night sometime. But you can rest assured it didn't get lost in the mail at least.

Actually, that depends on your location in the state as well. In the western, flatter areas of the state it gets pretty <bleep> hot in the summer, too, and there's lots of humidity to go with it. Which is worse? 100 degrees in the desert or 100 degrees in the swamp?

But do you also have winters that can go 20 below zero in Arizona? I don't think so.

In the eastern, especially northeastern parts of the state you get lake effect which means tons of snow in the winter and pretty much continual cloudiness even when something isn't falling. Most people probably know that the worst place in the country for lake effect snow is Buffalo, NY at the end of Lake Erie. Well, Pittsburgh and Cleveland aren't far behind.

Why are you surprised at the regional chauvinism? Isn't it the same, or even worse, in Europe? At least here there are highway driving distances between the 'divisions' of the populace. In Britain, and even in the denser cities of the US, there are neighborhoods that have distinct identities and hate each other. Now that's weird. People in the same city having 'cultural differences' with each other...

And I agree with Geo, Ohio is a nice enough place to live if you can deal with freakish weather. (Though it should be noted that the past decade has been especially freakish with the seasons getting all mishmashed...) It's just provincial and so rather difficult for 'visiting' types to stomach.

Three out of five is not too bad. The problem is it takes almost the full 48 hours in order to inspect each ship in my mindnumbingly vast armada individually and make sure there are no dissidents on board and to make sure that all the targetting computers know what a monkey looks like so they don't miss when they see one!
