Re: Frequently Asked Questions for Newbies
"Production" refers to resource, research and intel production. "Construction" refers to SY rates. So, that should indeed be fixed. SE4 is consistent with how it uses those terms, so the FAQ should be too.
Actually, 4.7.2 is correct as is. It means that SYs on ships and bases are not affected by population. It should be worded more clearly though.
"The construction rates of space yards on ships and bases are not affected by population or happiness."

Re: Frequently Asked Questions for Newbies
Ruatha: With your concurrence, I'll take care of the next update. I will include the fixes here, the latest strategy article by Stone Mill, some exerpts from the the forum I have been collecting since the Last update I did, and some new paragraphs I have been working on. Expect to get to it by the end of the upcoming weekend.

Re: Frequently Asked Questions for Newbies
Quite right.
I didn't read it carefully enough.
Maybe something like "In contrast to planetary shipyards, the construction rates of shipyards built on ships & bases are unaffected by population level."

Re: Frequently Asked Questions for Newbies
What is the range of boarding parties? If the number of boarders exceeds defenses, is the ship automatically captured? If not, do sensors and talisman help when attacking with boarding parties?
Thanks!

The ships must be next to each other.

Yes.

Nope. ECM does not help the defender either. The only thing that matters is boarding strength vs. defending strength. Sect. 6.4 shows all the numbers.

Re: Frequently Asked Questions for Newbies
Quote:
6.4.9 Boarding Party 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 = 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 guys respectively. Security Station 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 = 60, 100, 140, 180, 220 turrets respectively. Any BP or SS takes up 20kt space. Boarding is successful if the boarding parties are greater than the effective number of defenders (Security Stations turrets + 25% of boarding parties on the defending ship used as defenders + 16 for every undestroyed Crew Quarters)
|
Boarding parties provide FULL defense, not just 25%.
