				 Re: Players Profile List
Sure, sure... but bear in mind that, in this implementation, individual answers would never be shown to the public. Rather, an exrapolated value taking into account the total answers of each reviewer. Those values would be derived from all of the diplomacy-related questions, not just the question related to reliability. Such a profile would give other players a reasonable idea of what type of playing style to expect.
Of course, such a system wouldn't adequately take into account the different approaches needed to be competitive with different races. Just because a player turtles with one or two nations doesn't mean his/her playing style would be similar with other nations.

Should just have a measurement like a chess rating. Everyone starts with 1000. You gain more by beating better opponents. And by surviving later into a game or something. |

 Worse idea ever.
I mean, before the web admins of this very site got their act together and fixed the permissions I was privileged to see the moderator comment on my profile of "K is a douchebag sometimes."

So yeh. Any ranking system is automatically deceptive and hurtful, and it won't actually accomplish anything. "Winning" a game of Dominions is more often a matter of having a friend who's playing the same game and not about fine discriminations of skill.

Get your 15 indy provinces, NAP with all your neighbors, and sit back building castles while someone else goes and conquers the world? Boring!

				 Re: Players Profile List
Why not, actually?Starcraft ladder system might work well (if someone could implement it, of course). If, say, admin of game XXX declares some nation in a game at llamaserver a winner, then some formula applies and winning player gets some amount of points based on the rating of players he defeated. All losing players get a minus to their score (total minus should always be equal to total plus) based on their rating and (probably) position in the game (those who were eliminated later get less minus or maybe even some small plus if they did fairly well up to the end - all this information may be either gained from scores or game admin may or may not provide it).
Imho, if such system is well thought over, it can appear even more interesting and challenging to play and people will rarer do things such as chrispedersen in Madness (he left game on turn 6 because his rush, in which he invested everything he could, failed and his megapretender was slain)

				 Re: Players Profile List
The problem that I see is that Dom3 games tend to take endlessly, and people do tend to drop out of them very often, which might have to do with totally unrelated factors than their playing skill. |

				 Re: Players Profile List
With so many variables to types of Dom games it would be difficult to do a fair rating. There is a thread which has tracked winners for awhile if someone wants to go thru it with a rating scheme to see if the results they get are reasonable.
But it might require a special game server to pull it off properly. Where the games are standard. And checks are made to insure no duplicate IPs are in the same game.
