Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Yeah, well sending gems to the wrong person is a honest mistake. Only fair to send them back.
Now, if you forget to script your troops it is your own fault

o_O
mistake like that could be perceived as a random event of any sort. those shipments would get lost anyway every now and then for a reason or another so why not play accordingly. I indeed embrace fairplay my self, but taking advantage of a clear strategic mistake aint an exploit.
you guys are amazingly noble, thou!

Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
I think people would complain if the next Dominions Patch added a random luck event that could redirect the gems and items you send to an alternate destination.
It was not a strategic mistake because sending gems to Soyweiser was not part of his strategy. Misdirected messages can't even be counted as carelessness like not scripting your troops would be. Absolutely everyone makes mistakes, a careful person double checks, but that isn't possible with messages.
I would consider it a meta-game User-Interface issue, therefore sending the gems back was the correct thing to do.

Yeah since you cant even check a message you've set to be sent your only real choice to redo it is redo your entire turn from scratch if your unsure.. not the greatest UI design but there you go..

Also, sometimes when you alt tab out, with a typed message (but unsend) in the message screen, it just deletes the whole message. Great UI .

Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
UI development might have been better there but it is indeed a strategic mistake if one _lacks situational awereness_ on to whom he/shes is sending such a delivery. this is (the simplest form of) risk management: if you feel uncertain of what you did you can always redo your turn. On the other hand, if you r sure you did the right thing (or unsure that you did but lazy to make sure of it by playing the turn again) you go forth and send the 2h-file. the outcome is on you.
everyone makes mistakes, no argue on that - however there are more drastic mistakes done on regular basis, and no compensation received for them. being sloppy is being sloppy, theres no shame in winning a game, battle or war because your enemy is one. mistake causing a (major) default is strategic - from the perspective of the one who gains, at least. enemy, in a game and in a real life, is free to take advantage of it.
but like I said, very noble, indeed.
The only thing I personally would have sent back is a thank you -note being assured that nex time the sender pays more attention on what hes doing. Of course, I would be happy to sell them back with discount.........maybe.

Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
this made me think...if possible...
how do you guys perceive, say, spreading mis/false information in order to gain advantage in a MP game? or any other forms of ruses?
scenario:
I send a falsefied message to thirdparty, making it to look like it was a part of the plan to attack the thirdparty and received by him because of a simple misclick? a forged Zimmerman telegram, if you get my point, to make other people fight each other for your gain.
there are other ruses too, but this one came to my mind?
this is maybe the purest form of Macchiavellian diplomacy, so it is ok! (right?)
So far I have been in understandig it would be ok, in every MP TBS game, from Civ to Winplan to Dom, but now I became suspicious.

Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Well, I have used variants of those kinds of messages in a different game. (Firststeps, was filled with all kinds of devious diplo, convincing one nation I spoke for more than myself etc. Somebody putting up a global he heard I would approve of. I didn't. etc ).
But certain mistakes are just common errors. I tend to be rather friendly about those things as I know how easy it is to make a mistake with the not so friendly UI. (And doing a turn all over again SUCKS. had to do it once in the late game in one game because I ****ed up with a cursed arti. Not much fun). I try to be noble. Not all the time of course, but within reasonable bounds. And I doubt that the 50 air gems can win me the game .
And anybody who is still dealing with Ermor at this phase in the game deserves what is coming to them.

I forgot. To the player who send me the items. Thanks! They will help a lot.

Re: Noobs are gone frenzY - Late Age - (Running)
Well maybe i did this to let you think i have an ally !
So if you are suspicious on some1 you will prolly attack him while he could have been of some help against me
Well it s maybe a little twisted ... The 50A was prolly only a mistake ^^
