Default How to know whether enemy tanks are loaded with infantry?

I'm at the very moment playing a scenario in which some british tanks are loaded with infantry. Once I fired a playful mg shot at one of those shermans and lo end behold it popped up quite a bunch of discontented britons.

dont want to fire at each and every armour to know whether they have infantries latching or not, since the return fire is quite troublesome.

any way to know whether an enemy IFVs are loaded with infantry units? In real life it's quite easy to spot them bastards hanging on turrets

You just described the method. Its my standard policy to hose down enemy tanks with .50 as they approach - if infantry do not fall off, then it makes them slower if buttoned up, and the opponent at least has to waste rally efforts on un-buttoning.

As to APCs - passengers are on the inside and you don't have x-ray vision to see inside them (unlike the original SP AFAIR).

cheers
Andy

If you are doing long range MG fire with a hidden unit in good terrain, it will take a while for the enemy to spot you in order to return fire. And spraying the tanks with MG fire will make them button up and less likely to spot you - and the tank riders that have just dismounted are not likely to be in a status that allows them to do much spotting either.

I often like to give enemy tanks some healthy MG treatment to button them up before opening fire with the anti-tank guns.

Its certainly worth taking the shot, gets rid of the tanks extra eyes & makes it more vulnerable to attack by your units as accuracy will also be decreased.
Tank riders are considered in very poor terrain so there is a very good chance of causing casualties, sometimes quite severe ones.
Like in real life buttoned up tanks stripped of infantry support are in big trouble.
