Another thing I've noticed is that when you buy new units in the scenario editor after you've deployed some units already in a manner where they face in any direction other than the default left or right (depending on p1 and p2 "facing" settings, of course) this then leads to all the units facing in the default direction again when you go back to deploy the new additions.
No idea if this is a bug though.

This is why I buy all my units, set them up, then align them. They don't reset unless you buy more units, I've come to find out.

This has been a LONG standing SP issue and one that has bit me a time or two as well so it's on the " look into it" list for next year. The "secret" is to NOT face your units until you are CERTAIN you have all you need on both sides.....THEN face the unit and make a final save and above all resist the urge to "tinker"

Sorry if this is considered a "necrobump"...
Was this issue not fixed in the latest patch, or am I doing something wrong?
(particularly for MBT - trying to create a map with existing damage, as a MAP rather than scenario)

Remind me again EXACTLY what the problem is......when I build a test map with damage then remove the damage using the custom map editor the damage is cleared and when I use that map for a battle the damage is cleared and there are no "holes" messages on mouseover so from my POV there is no problem......but you may have another POV on the issue I'm missing

I WANT damage on the map - I place damage save map and on reloading, or using, the damage is not visible (but appears on mouseover)

If this is still about not being able to save a map with damage this is a map that was created with damage then used in and saved as a sceanrio

OK......... IDK what you and I are doing different but as I said that was a test map I created with damage......saved.... then used as a custom map in a sceanrio and what you see in that screen shot is the battle at turn one

Yes I just wanted the map - without a scenario.
The idea will be to (eventually) do a series of scenarios based in parts / subsections of the same map (cut and pasted from the master map).
I HOPE the map will be of interest to folks as it has a bit of everything - Sarajevo 1993

Ok I copied your map #992 into my game and created a scenario - no damage shows but "hole" etc show in description on mouseover.
This is why I asked if it was something I was doing wrong...

AH HA!!!!!!!!
NOW I see the problem....... all what I did was in one continuous use of the game.....building the map....saving the map, building the scenario and the battle then saving both the test sceanrio and the test game then reloading both......they all showed flaming trees.
It wasn't until I exited the game and restarted it that the map came back with no flameing trees....but reported craters.
...so the game was storing all that in memory and that's what why I was seeing flaming trees
So yes there is a problem.... the game SHOULD BE saving craters as a terrain feature but is not.....NOW this is at the TOP of the list for next year
