Re: unstable star
Has anyone tried creating stars over a currently existing ring/sphereworld and building yet another massive planetary structure? It seems like a neat thing to do (and you'd have the weapon platforms of one ringworld protecting the other!). I would _think_ it would open yourself to someone making the new star nova before the world is built, but technically they can do that from the warp point anyway if they bring their own star creator.

Mylon, you are one evil kitty kat.
I never thought of creating a star just to destroy the system. You could do that at the warp point or inside a storm, and they'd never see it coming.
I gotta make those system shield facilities a priority

Re: unstable star
You can only destroy a star if your star destroyer is in the same sector as the star. Can't do it from the warp-point.
I thought that the 'star-unstable' ability gave a set probability that that star would start going nova each round. Are you telling me that it actually does squat? Or are you refering to the descriptive text of the star?

Re: unstable star
Ring- and sphereworlds count as both a star, and not a star.
They count as not-a-star for purposes of planet building, solar panels, and star destroyers.
They count as a star for purposes of building new stars (ie: you can't).
The only way to kill a Ringworld would be a modded "super planetbuster" component, or, maybe a black hole

I believe he was suggesting that you create the star at the warppoint, and blow it up from there.
If you timed your orders right, you could create a warppoint, warp in, create a star, and blow it up, and then close the warppoint in one turn.

Re: unstable star
Who says you have to create a warp point? Star destroyers are expensive enough as it is.

That's right; the only thing that ability does is cause that description to be displayed. It's one of several unimplemented features that are scattered through the data files.

Yep, that's what I meant But... SEIV will not allow you create a star in a system that already have a star or artificial planet. Otherwise crystalline races could pull this trick: build 100+ stars in system and use Solar plants on all planets to get megabugs !

You're not fooling me, you're not worried about the star, you just wanna build a sphereworld 'cause it's a thing to have.

Busted! i just thought it would make a nice addition to my home system so i could show it off to some other races (*)
"oh, this little sphere world? huh, it's been here for ages"
*edited to not confuse people: it's races, not aces
