Had a funny one today...

I'm in the endgame of a pretty long game, just finishing off the Last aliens to win the game... suddenly one of my own colonies rebels and starts their own empire...

It was an unimportant colony so I decide to make quick work of it... I create a warp point to it and send a huge army of ships that annihilate it... all this in the same turn it rebelled...

Then the turn after I got a small shock, because the new empire was telling me how they couldn't allow me to threaten them

But then I noticed the line right beneath it where they were reported destroyed

Perhaps they just didn't notice I had already made a parking lot of their only colony?
