Newbie question

Hello all,

I just got SEIV Gold.I started playing a game and then saved it.When I loaded it I was playing another race than the one I first choose.
I haven't upgraded yet to the latest patch.

I'm sorry I didn't read to the threads first but this forum is so huge!
Anyway thanks for replying.
