The other day when I had a problem with my engine mod I made the AI races human to see what had happened. Well every AI race had ships that really zipped compared to the way mine usually move at least 3 or 4 times the speed I normally see (and no I don't think it was because they had more engines on their ships )
. I also get very slow movement from my ships if I use the modem then start the game. So I have seen 3 different speeds that these ships move now. I have no idea what is causing these speed changes.
I always have to restart my computer after using my modem the game really crawls too slow to play then expecially if I have built a good number of ships.
