AI tried to recapture planet!

Forgive me if I'm all excited by something that's old hat to others, but this morning I saw something completely new for me.

I had sent in a PAF fleet (Planetary Assault Force) to take a planet owned by the Xi-Chung (TDM Modpak). One Xi-Chung transport was in orbit, and it scurried off to a far corner while my attack ships softened up the planet's defenses.

After my drop troops eventually won the day, the Xi-Chung transport suddenly bolted for the planet. She would have been easy to destroy with my attack ships, but I wanted to see what she was up to.

To my amazement, she dropped her troops on the planet in an attempt to retake it! Because my troops were already there and had overwhelming numbers, it was no contest. Just as weird, the planet's population (whom I had just captured) seemed to aid my forces in fending off the new Xi-Chung troops.

So there were two surface battles in one tactical "session."

It was fun.
