Ok, like plenty many of us, I downloaded the demo today. I was also quite surprised that it didn't come with a manual. I talked with the guys at #dominions and they said the retail Version would come with a paper manual. I still find this quite odd. Illwinter guys, if you're reading this (and I know you are): aren't you sort of shooting yourselves in the foot by not including a manual with a rather complex game such as Dom 2. Even worse, most of the features aren't properly documented (even tho you can now see the shortcuts with '?' - a big plus).
Don't take me wrong, though. I like what you have done w/ dom2 (I got plenty of gripes too, but I'll have another post for that later
), but this just feels sort of odd. I can understand the fact that the manual might not be ready yet and will be available for download later, but if this is a way to make us buy the full game (which, again, most of us are going to do anyway) then I don't quite get it. Personally I got no problems with it as I've been struggling with the not-so-intuitive (it's getting better, tho, keep up the good work guys) interface long enough to get accustomed to it but I could easily see someone new to the game getting as frustrated as I did when I first started playing the game (btw, the documentation was a huge help there).
Cheers!
