Support-draining Life Support, Pollution
I don't remember who originally suggested trying it, but I added a Solar Supply Generation of 0 to Life Support and gave it a supply cost (like 10 or 2 or something). It drains supply, but only when the ship moves. Maybe the game isn't designed to handle supply drains on stationary ships (except for stellar manip stuff).
I got the idea this weekend of making facilities that reduce the conditions on a planet, simulating pollution. This way we could make things like strip mines, primitive factories and power plants (coal, yuck). I think things like this would make conditions improvement facilities a bit more important, especially if the polluting facilities are available early in the game, so you pollute all of your planets and have to get the tech to fix them again.
EDIT:
Oh yeah, does anyone know if you can add a facility that will increase the SY construction rate by a %? I don't think you can increase it by a number b/c SE would consider it another shipyard facility.
