New Release of the K-Editor v2.0 (beta release)
The K-Editor has been rewritten and re-released! The second edition contains several improvements over the original. Features include:
- The ability to generate both components and facilities, with vehicles to be added in a future release.
- Generation of both standard and grid objects.
- Links from a field to one or more other attributes.
- Evaluation of mathematical expressions, including those with variables in them.
- The Microsoft(TM) bug-free guarantee: Our blind, illiterate, native-Esperanto-speaking testers didn't find any bugs, and you had better not, either!
Documentation with screenshots is included in the setup package and should be located in the installation directory. READ THE DOCUMENTATION BEFORE TRYING THE PROGRAM! While the program is simple to use, the documentation contains information which is necessary to making useful series of components, such as the use of variables and expressions. The documentation is in Word format; if you need something else, let me know.
This is a beta release. I have extensively tested this program during development and since my Last compile, but other bugs will almost definitely come up. Please post here with a description of the bug, any error message, a description of exactly what you were trying to do, and whether you can reproduce the bug.
The installation package is in ZIP format (I prefer RAR, but large portions of the world still remain in barbarism) and is just under 3MB. Future patch downloads should only consist of the zipped EXE file and will be much smaller. You need to download the entire setup package, even if you have previously installed v1.xx of the K-Editor.
Lastly, this program does not attempt to ensure that your entries make sense. Due to the evaluation of expressions, it doesn't even check that numerical fields actually are numeric (at least not yet). This is not a modding trainer; it is a tool for those who already understand the data files. Check your output before putting it in your data files, make backups of your backups of your data files, and use some common sense. And above all, enjoy!
Any feedback is very welcome.
